The Many Causes of Tired-Looking Eyes (And How to Correct Them)
The Many Causes of Tired-Looking Eyes (And How to Correct Them) Tired eyes. Weâve all had them, and weâve all wondered what would be the fastest way to get rid of them. The honest answer: the best way to get rid of them is to not get them in the first place by getting a good nightâs rest! But thanks to innovations in skin care, there are also products that can help vanish the many signs of tired eyes. One of my favorites happens to be made by DermaQuest, but we will get to that later! Today I want to tell you all about the most common causes of tired-looking eyes, and how to avoid them. So, shall we begin?! The Many Causes of Tired-Looking Eyes Not Enough Sleep â" This is a total given, and one of the most common causes of eye puffiness, dark circles, and (over time) fine lines and wrinkles. Getting a full 8 hours of sleep is essential for your health in general, and will help to prevent the ever-dreaded puffy-eye in the AM. Too Much Sleep â" YES, oversleeping can have the same effect as not catching enough Zzzâs. So be sure to set your alarm for 8 hours, and get up and seize the day! Over Stimulating Your Eyes â" We live in a digital age, which means computers, smartphones, and TVâs, all the time. What many people donât realize is that all of this exposure can tire out your eyes, leaving them looking and feeling less-than-wonderful. The quick fix for this: go off the grid! This an be a great time for you to enjoy some fresh air outside, reconnect with good friends over dinner, or take a quick and much-needed cat nap! Allergies â" If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you are probably no stranger to puffy eyes. This type of puffy eye will best be remedied by a discussion with your doctor, who can advise you whether or not an anti-histamine might be right for you. Vision Problems â" Many people develop vision impairments gradually, making it hard to notice until the problem gets more severe. Just because you arenât noticing the impairment does not mean your eyes are not affected. If you arenât rocking 20/20 vision or the appropriate prescription for your eyes, your eyes are experiencing stress that can cause puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines (from squinting). My Favorite Remedies The remedies for tired-looking eyes range from totally natural, to advanced, and I want to share my three favorites with you. Cold Spoons â" This is like an at-home version of using Beauty Globes. Place two spoons in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, then press them on your eyes (wherever the puffiness is most prominent) until the spoons reach room temperature. A note: do not try this with spoons that have been frozen overnight or for any extended period of time! The super-cold temperate is not good for your skin and can even cause irritation. 10-15 minutes is the perfect amount of time. Room Temperature Tea Bags â" Black and Green Tea bags (dipped in hot water and allowed to cool to room temperate) are fantastic for annihilating puffiness and dark spots in a pinch. These teas (typically) contain caffeine, which will help stimulate blood flow to the area, thus livening it up. If non-caffeinated teas are more up your alley, donât fret. All teas contain tannins, which can help to reduce swelling. I have heard this works well as a weekly or bi-weekly treatment. Be sure to consult with your Dermatologist as to whether or not daily use would be okay. Skin Care Products â" There are so many skin care products on the market that can provide fabulous results fast, while delivering some serious improvements with long-term use. I have recently been using Dermaquestâs Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift, which works wonderfully to immediately firm and tone the skin around my eyes, while protecting my skin from free radicals and environmental damage.
